Card Making - Tucker and toad stool

It's Micaela's 2nd birthday this week and I have just received my Purple onion designs stamps that I had ordered. They arrived very quickly for SA standards - 9 days from posting in the US to my post office. Was very happy  - patience is not my virtue.
 I bought the Sunny Blooms, Toad stool and Tucker. They are Stacey Yacula's designs....

I used a large postal tag and sprayed it with 3 colours of Ranger Dylusions - Lemon Zest, Bubblegum Pink and Fresh Lime. The toad stool and Tucker snail were stamped with brilliance graphite black. I folded the tag a little so it would fit on the A5 card and used bright pink staples to secure. The sentiment is from My Favourite Things - you take the cake.

A card would not be complete without stickles and 3 diamond blings.

Wash day blues ...

The weather here in Cape Town has been rather cold and wet. Getting the washing dried is always a headache, and I am often forced to use the tumble drier. Whilst browsing through some photo's this weekend (Oliver's favourite - he sits on my lap and comments on each photo), I came across these......



The blue skies and tiny pink clothes, just give me such a warm feeling. V has outgrown all the clothes already, but for a brief instant, I can remember the teeny-tiny little outfits and the first time I held her in my arms.

Sigh.....time is certainly flying. V is 7 months old already and in 8 months time we will be packing up and heading to the UK - guess I will be firm friends with my tumble drier there - LOL!

Will post some more cards - I have had a little time, so could be creative!!

A stitch in time....

I have a quilt from my Mom's side of the family that is over 100 years old. It is very thread bare, but the work involved is just too beautiful. I had it on the bed, but Tabasco, my cat, decided that it was hers and it became covered in hair. I have since washed it and packed it away till V is older and I can tell her the origin of the quilt etc.

Mom came to the rescue and made me not 1 but 2 quilts (My Mom's handiwork is very much part of the nursery!). I asked for "vintage floral fabrics" and my Mom decided on Sun bonnet Sue.

She used lace that belonged to my gran and hand embroidered extra detail on all the squares. When I first saw the few squares she had so lovingly done, I decided it was too beautiful for the floor and we decided it would be the cot quilt.

Luckily we had been shopping for some more fabric for the cot quilt and I had fallen in love with some other fabrics. The colours and patterns are just too beautiful - people did look strangely at me when I mentioned it was for a baby quilt!!

V loves doing tummy time on this quilt and it is something that will grow with her.

The Paisley and the dog rose are my favourite patterns!  I am truly blessed to have such a talented Mom - thanks Mom xoxox
