My photo
Hi, I'm Debbie and welcome to my blog. I'm a mom to two amazing kids, and wife to a wonderful Husband. I thrive on being creative - thanks to my incredible Mom. She is talented in so many areas; she taught me to sew, enjoy baking and creating from experiences. I enjoy many forms of creativity: Graphic design (my newest venture), sewing, paper crafting and even cake decorating. I am constantly evolving and thus, an avid Pinner! The world and its array of wonderful people, will forever be inspiration. I hope you find something here that will inspire you to find your inner creativity. I love to learn new things and hear about my readers. Please leave a comment if a post has inspired you or just made you smile.

Ramblings....

OK - so for the last two days I have been 'trialing' nannies. I return to work in May and need a 'Mary Poppins' for my adorable O. We have tried agencies and word of mouth and still only two that I felt could be a good match. Yesterday went fine till Nanny 1 left, then the waterfall began and didn't quite stop. I mean - how do you KNOW if this is the right person you are entrusting the well being and safety of your Angel?

Today dawned as I tried to pry my tear stained eyes open, and Nanny 2 arrived. To tell the truth I was ready to send her packing after one and a half hours! My little guy has been beside himself today - not his usual cheerful self. I of course feel TERRIBLE that I am subjecting him to this ordeal and the tears start again. I managed to dive into my craft room (armed with my baby monitor so I could still hear what was going on) and make an adorable card for O's friend Kate who turns one tomorrow. I hope to post this soon.

I don't know if any other mom's have felt like I currently feel? Anyway...feeling a bit better just letting it out and am sure to return to my normal state of mind soon. Sorry for the ramblings and am open to any comments or suggestions or just drop in and say hi. Take care

Card Making - Triangular Tr-fold card

Made this for HRH Amanda's birthday - this was also pre-scorpal, but still easy to make. The instructions are on the scor-pal website. I love the paper which is digital scrapbook paper from Pink petticoat. The flowers have been cut with nestabilities and I have used a glitter brad and cute polka dot ribbon.

Hope you all have a fab weekend - I have an extremely busy one as Oliver is being Baptised and we also have a huge family lunch I am hosting. Take care

Card Making - Easel fold floral screen

Today I have a card made from the Scor-pal tutorials, but this was before I received my scor-pal. It is a square card on curious metal ivory card stock.

Card stock must be 14cm (w) X 28cm (L) - score and fold at 14cm. Then score and fold again at 7cm.
Cut a square 14cm X 14cm and decorate - I embellished mine with the cuttle bug 'Floral screen' embossing folder and some scrap book paper. The front has some dotty organza ribbon. I have made my own flower with different sizes scalloped circle nest-abilities and a pink flower at the back. I have then taken stickles glitter and 'rubbed' onto the petals for some sparkle.

On the inside I cut scrapbook paper to cover 3/4 of the card and at the top left some space to stamp Happy Birthday( sorry - no photo of this!). At the halfway mark I glued a pink button and then filled the holes with stickles glitter. The final touch is a tag that I punched out, stamped with 'wonderful' from Stampin up, added organza ribbon and 3D mounted. I think it looks fab when it stands like an easel - hope you like it.

Crafts - Paperback Roses

Hi everyone - hope this post finds you all well. Today is a quick post with some paperback roses that I have made. I have seen these a few times on other blogs and decided to take the plunge and make them. WOW - So easy. I changed mine slightly by inking the edges....

All you need is an old paperback that you have read (or you can buy a cheap one) a scalloped circle punch or nestabilities would work too, a brad and some Ranger Distress Ink. I used the Antique linen colour.

Punch or cut 5 scalloped circles. Place them ontop of each other - the edges do not have to align. Punch a hole in the centre and insert the brad. Take the first circle and scrunch it up into the center. Do the same with the next 3 circles, then open up the paper to form petals. Take your distress ink and lightly ink the petal edges. Step back and admire your efforts!!

Card Making - Lotus Lady

Hi there. Sorry I have been so quiet - both Hubby and I have been ill and I have not had the energy to sit at the computer. I see that since I have been away, I have another follower - welcome and I do hope that you enjoy visiting my blog.

Well today I have a Asian inspired card, which I made with a stamp so generously given to me. The main stamp is Stampington & Co - Lotus and the words are from Great Impressions. Blanche is based in George and has some lovely stamps.

The card is A5 size in white linen card stock. I found some Asian inspired scrapbook paper which I stamped the words Joy, Peace and Love and attached to the card. Lotus was stamped onto torn shimmer vellum paper and backed with a mottled gold paper. Both were torn at the bottom for interest. To add texture I added some thin twine at the top and finished off with a gold Chinese coin.

Cake Decorating - Bling Shoes

It seems like ages since I posted on my blog. This week has been pretty busy with looking after Oliver and other everyday things that take up your day in a blink.

Today was card class with HRH Amanda and Helen and some other very talented ladies. There are 3 of us celebrating our birthdays this month - Sharon, Amanda and myself.

I baked a yummy double chocolate cake and then iced it in delicate pink. I tried a quilted effect on the icing, but when I lifted the icing onto the cake it stretched! Lesson for next time!
A shimmer of pink glitter was dusted on top to add that girly sparkle. The final touch was a pair of sexy black stiletto's with diamante band, made out of sugar paste. Move over Kari Bradshaw...

Have a great weekend everyone

Getting started

Ok - so this is very new to me! I am not a whizz when it involves computers, so getting my blog to where I would like it will take some time. I am currently on maternity leave and have been spending some free moments surfing the net.
My good friend Helen of Firenze cards has fabulous card making idea's and also some great links. One highlight of my month is the card making class that I attend. Amanda (HRH to those who love her) Harrods Creations is our very talented teacher and sometimes our personal shopper...a lady after my own heart.
I must admit that I have become addicted to Disney's Ruffles and stuff and she was the inspiration to dust off my sewing machine.
I have always been interested in crafts and baking thanks to a very talented mom. I hope to post as often as time and Oliver allow, but please feel free to post comments in the meantime.
